XMod has always been customer-driven. Many of the new features in XMod 5 are the direct result of your input. We're always on the lookout for suggestions from you that we can implement in XMod to solve problems you encounter every day. Now, though, I'm asking for your input regarding our site and services.
XMod has always been customer-driven. Many of the new features in XMod 5 are the direct result of your input. We're always on the lookout for suggestions from you that we can implement in XMod to solve problems you encounter every day. Now, though, I'm asking for your input regarding our site and services.
After releasing XMod 5 (any day now - really...we hope), I would like to take a look at what we can add/change about the website and our services to further help you in how you work with XMod. We've already implemented some changes, such as this blog. The wiki, unfortunately, did not work - primarily because the software simply wasn't up to the task. Perhaps when the next new version is released, we can revisit it.
I would like to create a developers center on the site with information relevant to those who would like to extend XMod via its many extensibility options (form controls, template tags) or who are building advanced solutions with it. However, I'll need you to let me know what you would like to see there or whether you'd even like such an area.
If you're new to XMod or remember when you were, are there things we could add to the site to make the learning process easier?
We've got some other ideas up our sleeves, but what I really want is to hear your ideas about what would be useful. Post your comments and let me know.

I think the developer center is a good idea.
One area on learning/using Xmod I would like to see is a Xmod Javascript center. I've learned you can extend the capabilities of Xmod and build some really cool stuff using JS and there is quite a few JS code snippets that Xmod users have contributed buried in the forums. If there was an area where we could share JS code snippets, JS learning material, links, etc. that would be really helpful. We'd have a fairly good start on such a center if we just pulled out all of the snippets that are in the forums!
Just a thought.

1) Perhaps digitalizing the documentation and constantly updating it (yes, I know how much work that is). I never print the documentation, but read it as a pdf and search within. Perhaps that should be available on the website directly instead of inside the download? And maybe pdf is not the best way (although it does allow easy printing if you do want to print certain sections).
2) Examples from other developers is good
3) Is there a market for a marketplace? Those that are really skilled with developing applications within xmod could perhaps make some money helping others out with customization, especially when it comes to more complex solutions. I for one would be glad to find some Xmod guru to help out with development for some projects.

One of the most lacking support for webapplications with xmod is relational data. Datamanagers may help but currently xmod data is not relational in any sense...
So i would like new functionality for my apps...
Relational data linking to different formdata from a list/grid/repeater and even from one form to the other. Some special relational xmod data in the sql server could make this robust.
Then we could show the related data in my forms and in my listings and repeaters in an easy way. And last but not least you would get rid of the urlparameter linking which is a little wobly.
And we also would like to use tabbing (with AJAX ofcourse) inside templates not only in forms....
