First XMod Pro Demo

The first demo for XMod Pro is now live and running DNNDev.com.

It has been a long-time-coming, but the first demo for the upcoming XMod Pro is now live on DNNDev.com. It demonstrates an Employee Viewer application - something you might run internally on an intranet or on a publicly-facing website.

The most important aspect of the demo is not what it does, per se. Rather, it is the functionality revealed. The demo displays a list of the company's departments across the top. Click a department name and a list of employees in that department is displayed below it. Click an employee and to the right you'll see that employee's profile displayed. That's pretty cool by itself, but the coolest thing is that all of this happens within a SINGLE module instance. You have three independent templates, each backed by its own datasource, all within a single module AND with the ability to interact with each other.

FYI, XMod Pro is still in a pre-release stage. We're not quite ready to release it, but that also means you can get in on the ground floor, provide input and help determine XMod Pro's direction, get a subscription and a bundle of licenses, all for a HUGE discount. Participate in the XMod Pro Early Bird program. Read the original blog post for more info. or, if you're ready to purchase, click here to purchase.

Re: First XMod Pro Demo

What is the different between XMod 5.1 and XMod Pro?

Re: First XMod Pro Demo

This is exciting. I can already see that this will enable me to update our article system by having the ability to display the author's bio without having to use a separate instance of XMod like I do now.

My question is: Will XMod Pro be as easy to learn as the current XMod? I don't have a background in module development or in SQL statements.

@Dat Huynh: There are a lot of differences - too many to detail here. XMP is a complete rewrite of XMod. The primary difference is XMP is designed to work directly with your database using your own SQL commands. At the same time, we've kept a lot of the XMod feel (and many of its tags).

Re: First XMod Pro Demo

@YodaRocks: You won't need to know module development. You will need to know some SQL - like how to fetch records (SELECT), how to add records (INSERT), etc. As with all things, the more you know the more you'll be able to do, but if you can write basic SQL commands and you know HTML or can use XMod, then you can use XMod Pro. Keep in mind that we do not encourage novices to use this product.
