With all the hubbub about the recently released XMod Pro, a lot of customers have been asking about the future development of XMod. Here's what we have in store.
Our focus lately has been on the recently released XMod Pro. This new product brings unprecedented power, performance, and flexibility to advanced and professional developers of DotNetNuke solutions. Of course, I've been fielding a lot of questions about how XMod Pro's release will affect the future development of XMod. Will we stop developing XMod?
To be clear: We have no plans to stop developing XMod. In fact, new techniques we developed while building XMod Pro are going to be applied directly to XMod as well. So, what can you expect in XMod 6? I can't reveal everything at this time, but here are some of the ideas that will guide its development.
Improved UI
XMod has always made it easy to display your data however YOU wanted it. It packaged advanced functionality up into neat little tags. All you had to do was set a few properties and XMod took care of the rest. Look for more of the same in XMod 6. The web is always changing and XMod is changing along with it. We'll make it easier to add some "eye candy" to your display and give your site a professional polish.
Improved Data Handling
We are now investigating ways that we can apply XMod Pro techniques to XMod's data handling capabilities. We are looking at ways to significantly improve data retrieval and display speed. Stay tuned for more on this front.
Additional Views
Another area we're researching involves additional display types. I hope to talk more about this as that feature takes shape.
Improved Usability
XMod has always made it easy to create forms and templates. We've added tools and helpers to make that process easier in previous versions. In version 6 we will be enhancing those usability tools even more.
Stay tuned to this blog. I'll be blogging more about the upcoming XMod 6 as well as posting articles on XMod Pro.
XMod and XMod Pro's futures are VERY bright but we cannot do it without you. I appreciate all the support you've shown since XMod 1.0's release way back in 2004 and I look forward to many more versions and years working with you.
Best,
Kelly
