If your customers are praising you with comments like this, let everyone else in on the secret. The best advertising isn't a full-page ad in your local newspaper, a 60 second spot on drive-time radio, or 100,000 impressions of a banner ad. On the internet, people rely on the advice of others who have used your product or service.Good comments and reviews give you credibility, a critical component when you're trying to persuade others of your value. The more they know about you and the more people they see who like you, the more likely they'll be to trust you and your product/service.

Let Your Customers Do the Talking

If your customers have had good experiences with your company, give them a way to tell others about it. Testify! provides you with a quick and easy way to do just that. Place a Testify! module on your page, assign which roles are allowed to submit testimonials and immediately your customers can start helping you spread the word. When they see the module, they'll be presented with an "Add Comment" button. They simply click it, fill out the form and submit it. If you've opted to require approval of submissions, you can have a notification automatically sent to your site administrator, complete with a link to the page where the testimonial can be reviewed, edited, and approved or deleted.

 Sometimes Looks Are Everything

Well, you've got your customer quotes, now you need to present them to your site visitors in a professional, attractive manner and, most importantly, in a manner that fits seamlessly with the existing style of your site. Testify! has you covered. Choose from 3 different display types:

  • Single-Record, Random Display: Everytime the page is loaded, a single, randomly-selected record is displayed.
  • Fading Display: We love this one... When the page is loaded multiple records are fetched (you decide how many) and Testify! displays one at a time, transitioning between each one with a nice fade effect.
  • Custom: Fetch one or more records and display them in a paged list. You decide how many records are retrieved and the number of records per page.

Even better, for each display type, you use your site's Rich Text editor to determine how the records will look, how the data will be arranged, and even what data will be displayed. So, in a word-processor like fashion, you can format your display. If you want the user's name to be bold, type [$Name$] into the editor, highlight it, and click the Bold button in your editor's toolbar. How about including the user's company name? Type in [$Company$]. That's all there is to it. Simple and straightforward.

Need more flexibility? With Testify! you can display a list of testimonials a page deeper in your site but also display those testimonials on your home page (or other page), using a different style, layout and/or display type. So, while one page is displaying the full list of testimonials deeper in your site, you can present testimonials one-at-a-time, with a fade transition, on your home page.

As a complement to the one-module-many-displays aspect, you can also choose to keep sets of testimonials distinct. So, if you had two products, you can keep them separate by creating a Testify! module for Product A and a separate Testify! module for Product B. Each module will only display testimonials that have been associated with it.

Customize Your Forms Too!

Testify! doesn't stop at just allowing you to customize the display, it also allows you to customize the data entry form your users will see. To begin, you can choose to have the form pop-up, inline (i.e. not in a separate browser window) to avoid popup blockers. Or you can choose to have the form displayed on a separate page.

You're in control over how your form is arranged, how it is styled, even what fields the user will be prompted to fill out and whether or not those fields will be required or optional. Just as with the display, all you need to do is use your rich text editor. Type in whatever text you want (like captions and explanatory text), optionally add tables, style your text, etc. Then, place a simple token, like [$Name$] in there where you want the user to enter his or her name.  Add [$Company$] where the control should be for entering a company name. If you don't want the user to enter hist or her company name, simply remove the [$Company$] token. Testify! handles the rest. The end result is your user is presented with a data-entry form arranged and styled according to your needs.

Finally, you can customize Testify! in one subtle, but powerful way. Testify! supplies you with a set of fields geared toward testimonials, comments, reviews, quotes, etc. However, just because we have a Headline field doesn't mean you can't store URL's in it. Let's say you don't need the Headline field and would rather store the company's web address there. Just change the caption for the the Headline control. Instead of Headline: [$Headline$], change it to Website: [$Headline$]. The field is still named "Headline" internally and you use the [$Headline$] token when displaying the data, but you can use the content of the field to create a hyperlink in your display, linking to the company's website.

Easy Management

Of course, you may not want to allow your users to submit testimonials or you may need to add them yourself - i.e. if they come via phone, email, magazine article, etc.  In those cases, you'll be happy with the management features of Testify!

With the management screen in Testify!, you can add, edit, approve, un-approve, and delete testimonials. Unlike other management pages that use grids, you'll notice that the testimonial since it can be quite large, is displayed on its own line, instead of being shoved into a too-small table cell. Our grid also makes it easy to find various testimonials: Click a column header to sort by that colum, or fill in a filter criteria at the top of one or more columns to filter your results.

When you want to edit a testimonial, we make that easy too, as you can see from the screenshot. We've also placed the Comment (i.e. testimonial) field on a tab by itself, to give you more room to edit it. Best of all, the adding, editing, and deleting of testimonials is done via AJAX for greater efficiency and performance.
